January 2020

Greetings Families:

Welcome back! The Hudtloff staff and I hope all of you had a restful winter break. Now that we are back, the focus is to finish the semester strong.  Second quarter/first semester ends January 24th with third quarter/second semester starting January 28th. Student Report Cards will be mailed home at the end of the month.

This month Hudtloff will honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at an assembly on January 17th @ 9:45AM.  Dr. King is honored for his nonviolent activism and inspirational speeches- I Have a Dream & Letter from a Birmingham Jail – to name a few. Dr. King won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964 for his role in the Civil Rights Movement. On the evening of April 4, 1968, Dr. King was assassinated.  Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will forever be recognized for his character and leadership.

Hudtloff has embraced Character as one of the Four Pillars that we are focused on this school year. Our focus on Character supports the Hudtloff Mission- To ensure a learning environment which all feel safe and prepares our students to contribute and be successful.  The six characteristics of Character are Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring, and Citizenship.  Each and all of these characteristics support student readiness to contribute in a positive way and to be successful.

Please join Hudtloff’s PTSA.  Their mission is to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all children. Please come support our students.  To Join: The Member Planet link for parents to join the PTSA is

Any student who is NOT involved or attending one of these events will be asked to call home and get picked-up by a parent/guardian. Any student attending a sporting event and not following the district/school/sportsmanship policies will be asked to call home and get picked-by a parent/guardian. Bus Notes: Parents, if your student is requesting to ride a different bus home (to go to a friend’s house or other) please send a note. Your student needs to bring the note to the main office to get approval. Main office will call you to verify, and an admin will sign. This needs to be done in the morning or at lunch. Any note brought to the main office after school leaves little time to verify prior to buses leaving. Please put your phone number on the note.
