What does P.R.I.D.E. mean?

We say we have Hurricane P.R.I.D.E. This means we encourage our students to take Personal Responsibility In Developing Excellence.

What is P.R.I.D.E. Lunch?

P.R.I.D.E Lunch is simply an opportunity during lunch to go to a quiet room to complete late assignments. Students who do not turn in an assignment on the assigned day are notified that they will have P.R.I.D.E Lunch the next day if they do not turn in the missing assignment by the next morning. Students get their lunch and take lunch along with the missing work to the P.R.I.D.E Lunch room where there is a support staff to monitor them. We implemented P.R.I.D.E Lunch because we believe that students who engage in their learning by completing assignments are most likely to successfully meet grade level expectations.

What is P.R.I.D.E. Homework Club?

P.R.I.D.E Homework Club is our after-school support program to assist students in completing their assignments. We have teachers who will support your child with their learning on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:05-4:10 in the cafeteria. Bus transportation is available for students who normally ride the bus. This is an optional program for all students. Some students are required to attend Homework Club if they demonstrate chronic lateness in turning in their assignments. Students who are assigned P.R.I.D.E Lunch three or more times per week over a two week period are required to attend P.R.I.D.E Homework Club. Please complete a permission form if you would like your child to attend P.R.I.D.E Homework Club.

What is P.R.I.D.E. Day?

P.R.I.D.E Day refers to a day that we celebrate our students who have demonstrated that they take responsibility for their learning by earning all grades C- or above on their mid-quarter or end of quarter report cards. Successful students get to celebrate their accomplishments from 1:50-3 pm with a school wide social time. During this time, students are allowed to go to activities of their choosing. We offer crafts, karaoke, sports, open gym, movies, games, etc. Students who earned grades below a C-are required to attend a study hall to work on their assignments to improve their future grades. Parents are welcome to attend to help monitor this event. Let Mr. Wilson know if you are interested by calling 253-583-5402.
